Description
This is an electrically heated and insulated tubing bundle specifically engineered for the freeze protection of instrument and sample lines that are subject to high-temperature process exposure, particularly superheated steam lines. It is designed to maintain a low temperature (like 5°C / 40°F for freeze protection) while its construction allows it to continuously withstand high exposure temperatures up to 399°C (750°F). The bundle uses a “cut-to-length” HPT power-limiting heat trace which is thermally isolated (separated) from the high-temperature process tube by a layer of insulation and reflective foil. This isolated design is critical for protecting the heat tracing cable, which cannot tolerate the high temperatures of superheated steam.
Features
- High Temperature Exposure: Designed to withstand continuous high exposure temperatures up to 399°C (750°F) (such as from superheated steam).
- Application: Primarily for freeze protection (maintaining 5°C / 40°F) of high-temperature steam sample lines and impulse lines to pressure transmitters.
- Heat Trace Type: Uses parallel resistance HPT power-limiting heat trace, which is isolated from the hot process tube.
- Installation: “Cut-to-length” feature allows for field fabrication, reducing waste and simplifying installation compared to pre-fabricated heating cables.
- Safety and Certification: Approved for use in hazardous (classified) locations and features “Touch Safe” jackets to protect personnel.
- Types: Available as SEI (Single Electrical Isolated) for one process tube or MEI (Multiple Electrical Isolated) for multiple process tubes.
